TRAFFIC STATISTICS
We're told that we need yet more traffic statistics. yet what has been done already is worrying enough, and confirms what we could see for ourselves: both the volume and speed of traffic are unacceptably high. The latest traffic survey was done in August 2009.

Whole week total, at the bottom of White Tor Road

Here are some other highlights from the survey.

Traffic recorded at the War Memorial at 8am on 7th August 2009. Blue is northbound, red is southbound. Note the majority of southbound traffic is well in excess of the speed limit.

Speed profile for 24 hours of traffic on 7th august at White Tor Road. Blue is northbound, red southbound. Each bar represents the number of vehicles within the preceding 5mph speed range. EG, the highest figure is for 1 vehicle travelling north between 61 and 66 MPH (blue point)
Thus over a whole day, MOST traffic whether northbound or southbound, is exceeding the speed limit. This graph also makes it very clear that the volume of northbound traffic is substantially higher than southbound. This can only be a direct result of aditional through traffic caused by the new road layout in central Matlock.

See the detailed summary table from the traffic survey, below, to be truly horrified. How can our road support speds up to 50 and 60mph?
