STARKHOLMES TRAFFIC ACTION GROUP DRAFT PLANS FROM DCC The draft plans from Derbyshire County Council can be downloaded from here. We also provide contact details and a form for comments and suggestions. Please note that the DCC proposal covers only Matlock Green to the top end of Willersley lane. You may wish to comment on the exclusion of Willersley, for which we have asked but not received any explanation. WILLERSLEY We consider very strongly that the unrestricted (i.e. 'national', 60mph) length of Willersley Lane should have a speed limit. 60mph on Willersley hill or the 'liable to subsidence' section at the top is simply unsafe. We have been informed by Derbyshire County Council that a speed limit can be introduced only if it is supported by the police. Although local police officers in Matlock understand our case and are sympathetic towards it, we have received a detailed reply from Derbyshire Police HQ (click here to read) which makes it plain that we will not have police support for a speed limit for the foreseeable future. While not giving up on this, the way forward is not clear to us. We shall be considering possible actions to continue our campaign for a speed restriction on Willersley Lane. The simplest is of course for residents to drive slowly (though not so slowly that we risk inciting "road rage"). If you have further positive - and legal - suggestions, please feel free to tell us through our 'contact' page. Plans: PDF format from DCC -
Comments: three options.
