On 9th December, 2010, ahead of the MinSouth evening meeting, Ian Townsend, President for 2009-10 was presented with an engraved mining lamp and card signed by his fellow councillors. In making the presentation, Valerie Batterham, current President, thanked Ian for his hard work on behalf of MinSouth in delivering such a wide ranging and successful programme in his year in office. The programme had a number of highlights but in particular will be remembered for bringing a prominent Conservative MP, Mark Lancaster to be the guest speaker at the annual dinner, resulting in a very popular event. Ian thanked Valerie and wished her success with her year in office, which has already got off to a very good start.
