Nick Eastwood presenting miner's lamp to Valerie Batterham at 2011 AGM
The MinSouth AGM was held at the Counting House, Cornhill, London at 6.00pm on 13th October 2011 and was attended by around 30 people. Annual accounts were presented by Geoffrey Hammond and the outgoing president, Valerie Batterham, presented her annual report. Valerie then inaugurated the new president, Nick Eastwood, into the post as her last act as president. On behalf of the committee, Nick presented Valerie with an original Miners Lamp as a token of appreciation of all the hard work she had put in through the year. This was then followed by a very interesting talk on ‘Why Diamonds are a bad investment’ presented by David Hargreaves, Independent Consultant, which generated numerous questions and a lively discussion.
