At a recent event to observe the memory of
John Bowden a long time foreman mining at the Camborne School of Mines King Edward mine on March 12th and held at the King Edward mine museum.
After the light hearted but respectful recollection of Mr. Bowden’s activities by ex members of staff including the old surveying lecturer Ron Hooper, Vice President Nick Eastwood and myself asked if we could be shown around the old mineral processing plant area to bring back some fond memories of our student days.
The building has a wonderful collection of old time collection of tin processing plant with the vast majority in working order and used for school visits to show how it was done before computers.
The museum has purchased an old steam driven hoist which is now housed in a dedicated building adjacent to the mill and is planned to bring it on line in the near future.
So, MinSouth is pleased to have a link to the King Edward Museum on our website. So the museum may be given as broad a publicity as possible particularly outside of Cornwall.
