In 2010, MinSouth inaugurated a sponsorship scheme for undergraduate students engaged on a course that is within the MinSouth area and that has direct applications to the mining industry. The award is for undergraduates at the end of their first year and is for £1000 for each of their remaining three years of undergraduate study. In the first year of the scheme, MinSouth received 14 applications. The panel drawn from the MinSouth Council selected Christopher Blamey for the sponsorship. Christopher is a geology student at the Camborne School of Mines. At the December 2010 meeting of MinSouth he was presented with a cheque from MinSouth by Professor John Monhemius.
