MinSouth 50th Anniversary Lunch : 17 April 2008
MinSouth held its 50th Anniversary Luncheon on 17 April 2008 at 1 Carlton House Terrace. A convivial meal was enjoyed in the sunlit library, by 26 diners, who included Graham Nash the most senior past president (1972- 73) of the Southern Counties Institute of Mining Engineers, which had held its first general meeting on 5 March 1958. It was the forerunner of the current local society, MinSouth. The luncheon was organised by Jim Buchanan, himself a past president of the Southern Counties IMinE. Liv Carroll the MinSouth Vice President chaired the formal parts of the proceedings, which included a congratulatory speech to MinSouth by Barry Lye, the IOM3 President and a response by Professor John Monhemius.
